Happy birthday, Laura!

My youngest sister is 18 today. Wow, I feel old. I guess I'll finally post one of those prom pictures I was supposed to edit for her back in March... (More to follow).

Tita

My grandmother recently passed away. It was sudden and unexpected but I suppose no one is ever really ready for that kind of thing. As difficult as it was to say goodbye, looking around at the ENORMOUS family she left behind only made me smile. Tita, as she was known by all of us, left her home in Mexico when she was just a young bride. After her first child was born she immigrated to Midland, Texas with my grandfather where they worked hard to provide for their children. She had 12 more children before my Tito passed away. It amazes me to think about the extent of her legacy. I am able to live the way I do because of her. Looking into the crowd at her funeral I saw an incredibly diverse group of people. Most of her grandchildren are grown now and have families of their own. Many of her children and grandchildren have moved away and live vastly different lives but somehow we all still managed to come together to remember the woman who provided for all of us. When she passed away on Easter Sunday she was survived by 13 children, 42 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren (and growing).  She is missed tremendously by all of us.

My best friend is graduating and asked me to take a few grad pictures for her.

I went exploring yesterday.

I was joined by Sophie, Gilly, and John Michael.  We didn't get too far beyond my yard but I'm pretty sure in dog distance we walked the equivalence of six miles. To view the entire album click here.

It's probably way over due that I make one of these.  I'd like to thank all of my wonderful friends who've been the subject of many shoots and have accompanied me during many adventures.  Now you can have all the pictures you want in one place. :)
